Vättern

Vättern is Sweden’s second largest lake – a long-range clear water holding bordering Småland, Östergötland, Västergötland and Närke. The unusually clear and cold water, the steep beaches and the island of Visingsö make Vättern a powerful but demanding paddle environment.

Paddling on Vättern

Vättern is big, deep and known to quickly get hard – the wind gets free playrooms over the open surfaces and the waves can get high. Paddling is best suited to the habit, which stays close to the country and plans short stages. The Gränna and Visingsö bays at Jönköping are more easily accessible parties. The cold water makes the right dress extra important.

At Gränna and Jönköping, you rent kayak and SUP unmanned via Kayakomat Gränna and Kayakomat Jönköping Vätterstranden. Treat Vättern as open water – check the weather carefully, stay close to the land and always wear the life jacket. Count on cold water in the summer.
