Bohusläns skärgård

Lysekil, Västra Götalands län

The coast of Bohuslän is one of Europe's most attractive to sea kayak: smooth pink granite cliffs, thousands of islands and cuts, and genuine fishing modes such as Smögen, Fjällbacka and Grebbestad. The water is salt and basically tidal, and the coast stretches all the way from Gothenburg up to the Norwegian border in Bohuslän.

Paddling along the coast

Inside the outer rock islands, protected joints run in the lying, while the open fjords and the seaband challenge the habit. Kring Orust, Tjörn and Fjällbacka weave themselves sound and wedge in between the islands, and at the top meets Skagerraks open sea. Sellers, tumblers and rich bird life belong to, and the red seabodies shine against the grey granite. The north is Kosterhavet, Sweden’s first marine national park.

Good to know

Hire sea kayak at Orust Kajak or Nautopp Kajakcenter in northern Bohuslän. At Lysekil there is Kajak i Grundsund. The coast is open and wind-prone – check weather and wave, plan crossings and stay inside the islands if you are above. Always wear the life jacket. See more rentals and lead on kartan.
