Glaskogen in western Värmland is a large nature reserve and one of the landscape’s finest wilderness areas – some eighty lakes and tarns linked into almost endless canoe touring. With marked routes and lean-tos along the way it is a classic goal for multi-day trips on still lake water.
Paddling in Glaskogen
The connected lake system lets you paddle from lake to lake with short carries in between, and the many lean-tos and rest spots make overnight planning easy. The water is mostly quiet lake water, which makes Glaskogen forgiving even for the less experienced – but distances can be large, so bring a map.
Good to know
Rent a canoe and kayak at Glaskogens kanotcentral at Lenungshammar. The reserve has rules for fires and camping – follow the signs, use prepared sites and leave no trace. Always wear a life jacket and plan day stages to your ability.
