Höga Kusten in Ångermanland is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the mountains rise steeply from the sea. The land rise after the ice age – the largest in the world – has shaped a coast with high rock islands, deep remotes and countless islands to camp on. It is one of Sweden’s most dramatic and magnificent sea kayaking waters.
Paddling on Höga Kusten
Kring Skuleberget and Norrfjärden you paddle among high granite islands rising 60-70 meters from the sea, with protected lagoons between. Further out, islands such as Higher Peasants, Ulvön and Trysunda await for multi-day tours. The combination of steep mountains, dense forests and open seas makes each tour an experience.

Hire sea kayak at Höga Kusten Kajak in Lunde, Höga Kusten Kajakcenter at Skuleberget or Lappuddens Friluftscenter in Nordingrå. The coast is open and weather sensitive – beginners should paddle guided or stick to protected remotes, while habit paddlers can head out to the islands. Always wear the life jacket and check the weather.
