Sjön Bolmen

Ljungby, Kronobergs län

Sjön Bolmen in western Småland, just outside Ljungby, is Sweden’s tenth-largest lake – a wide inland lake with islands, long bays and the elongated island Bolmsö in the middle. The lake is also known for Bolmentunneln that supplies Skåne with drinking water, but above all it is fine, roomy paddle water.

Paddling on Bolmen

The sheltered southern parts and the many islands suit even less experienced paddlers, while the lake’s size gives room for longer trips and multi-day adventures. As on all large lakes, waves build quickly over the open surfaces – plan for the wind and stay among the islands if you can.

Good to know

Rent a canoe and kayak at Bolmen Marin & Fritid / Bolmens Camping at the lake. Bring a map, watch the wind over the open surfaces and always wear a life jacket.
