Sjön Immeln lies on the border between north-eastern Skåne and Blekinge, about 20 km north of Kristianstad. It is a long rift-valley lake with clear water and over 200 islands and islets – a labyrinthine inland archipelago among southern Sweden’s finest canoe waters.
Paddling on Immeln
The quiet, clear water and the island-rich setting make Immeln forgiving for both beginners and those who want multi-day trips with camping on the islands. Parts of the area are nature reserve, and the birdlife and the untouched forest feel make the paddling an experience. The lake also lies along Skåneleden if you want to combine with walking.
Good to know
Rent a canoe and kayak at Immelns Kanotcenter, which also has extra kit for multi-day trips. The lake is large and island-rich – bring a map, watch the wind over the open surfaces and respect bird protection areas and allemansrätten. Always wear a life jacket.
