Stage 8 runs about 14 km from Hallstahammar to Borgåsund on Mälaren in Västmanland. Allow about 5–6 hours with a break. Along the way you pass Kolbäck and Strömsholm, among other places.
About the stretch
Three lock passages require the canoe to be lifted or rolled on land. At Västerkvarn/Mölntorp strong current can run towards the power station, especially in high flow. The route description points you to the canal on the left under the road bridge. Follow warning signs and buoys and check current conditions before the trip.
Good to know
The source gives two different start notes: a floating jetty at Skantzsjön and a jetty under Sörkvarnsvägen. Confirm the right put-in with Lakeside Adventure before you leave. The first point on the map track is not by itself a confirmed put-in.
