Paddling in Gotlands län

Gotland offers sea kayaking in a class of its own – a coast of rauks, cliffs and shallow bays in the Baltic’s clearest water.

The island’s long coast and the many small islands (such as Furillen and Östergarnsholm) give fine sea kayaking, often in sheltered bays with sand beaches to land on. Around Katthammarsvik on eastern Gotland there is both a safe archipelago setting and more open sea paddling.

The season is mainly May–September. Gotland is open and can be wind-exposed – check the forecast and paddle in the lee if it blows.
