Paddling in Västergötland

Västergötland combines Göteborg’s city-close water with inland lakes and lake systems inland – versatile paddling in Sweden’s western heart.

In and around Göteborg you paddle everything from Delsjöarnas quiet lake water to the coast south of town. Canoe, kayak and SUP you rent at Delsjöns Kanotcentral at Stora Delsjön and sea kayak at SeaKayak Billdal just south of Göteborg.

Inland, Västergötland’s lakes and waterways open for quieter canoe trips, while the west coast just outside gives sea paddling in sheltered bays and more open fjärds.

Season

The season is mainly May–September. The lake waters are stable all summer; for coastal paddling the usual weather and wind check applies.
